What are Tattva ?

In the ancient wisdom of yoga and Ayurveda, the human body is believed to be a microcosm of the universe, composed of the same five fundamental elements that make up the entire cosmos. These five elements, known as the Pancha Mahabhuta or Pancha Tattva, are the building blocks of our existence, shaping not only our physical form but also our mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

What are 5 Tattvas,

In the ancient wisdom of our existence, it is understood that everything in the world, including us, is composed of five fundamental elements or tattvas: Prithvi (Earth), Jal (Water), Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air), and Gagan (Sky/Space). Each tattva plays a crucial role in our being. For instance, Agni, or the fire element, is essential for digestion, breaking down food in the belly. However, an excess of this element can lead to conditions such as acidity. Beyond the physical, Agni also represents our desires and drive towards goals. Yet, when these desires become feverish or obsessive, they can create unrest in the body and an uncalm, unhappy mind. Hence, balance within and among these tattvas is essential for overall well-being, which is the foundation of Tattva Yoga.

Yoga : Timeless Wisdom for Modern Well-Being.

Yoga, often misunderstood as merely a series of asanas or postures, is far more profound. According to Sage Patanjali, asanas constitute only one of the eight limbs of yoga. The eight limbs, as defined by Patanjali, are Yamas (abstinences), Niyamas (observances), Asana (posture), Pranayama (breathing), Pratyahara (withdrawal), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi (absorption). Yoga, in its essence, is the unison (yog) of body and mind. It is the journey from the external world to the internal, from the gross to the subtle. It is a movement from the chatter of the mind to a state of calm, ultimately leading to unification with consciousness.

Yoga is the union of body and mind.

So we have five Tattva in our nature. So we are trying to purify all those tattva in this form of yoga.

So people who understand yoga or little bit or have read about yoga. They only think yoga is asanas, postures, twist turns and stretches. But I don't think yoga is just that.

So in Tattva Yoga we teach not just the asanas but it is a great illusion body and mind in which there is breathing exercies there are stretches in way that the body really unifies with mind and you get a real calming experience.

So the way Tattva Yoga can work for you is if you a gymmer then it gives you a complete relaxation and flexibility. If you are not into yoga it gives you the starting points to all an entry into yoga and if you are a seasoned yoga practitioner it still gives you relaxation and meditation which other forms of yoga does not give you.So, this very important that about 25% of our yoga time is dedicated towards meditation and real relaxation happens.
